Weight loss, chronic neck pain, and postpartum running considerations
Finding the best running and rehab content on the internet each week so you don’t have to.
What I’m Thinking
I. Sometimes exercise is boring and you should do it anyway.
II. Maybe the doctor discourages you from running because they’re afraid of losing a customer.
🤣
What I’m Reading
📖 Using beat frequency in music to adjust running cadence in recreational runners
“four weeks of running with a musical beat that is 7.5-10% higher than the preferred cadence may be an effective and feasible intervention to increase running cadence. Importantly, the increased cadence occurred without simultaneous increases in running speed and heartrate, hereby potentially reducing mechanical loading without increasing metabolic load.”
“This explorative study identified different recovery trajectories in people with acute nonspecific neck pain. The majority of patients were assigned to the recovery trajectories (82% for pain intensity and 82% for disability). Ongoing systemic inflammation (increased hsCRP), sleep disturbances, and elevated psychological factors (such as depression, stress, and anxiety symptoms) were mainly present in the unfavorable recovery trajectories compared to the favorable recovery trajectories at each follow-up assessment and over 6 months.”
